The Christian theory of devolution, also expounded on in great detail by cryptozooligist Kent Hovind, is predated by that of Hinduism and the story of King Mucukunda (मुचुकुंदा).
In Srila Prabhupada’s “Kṛṣṇa: The Supreme Personality of Godhead,” chapter 52, is the story Kṛṣṇa, the Raṇacora, which states the following:
On coming out of the cave, Mucukunda saw that the human species had surprisingly been reduced in stature to pygmy size. Similarly, the trees had also been far reduced in size, and Mucukunda could immediately understand that the current age was Kali-yuga. Therefore, without diverting his attention, he began to travel north…to execute austerities and penances for the rest of his life.

Religious science is the creme de la creme of ages of human experience. Religious stories are the concentration of all great great knowledge in the most preserved and indestructible forms: allegory and abstraction. All religions and all religious texts agree with the devolution theory, and no religious text proposes such egotistical, monomaniacal nonsense as evolution. No continent meditator could ever mistake his own experience of society from childhood to now as evolution. Religious practice, environmental conditions, and nutrition has been going on a steady and apparent slide down, and will continue to do so until the passing of Kali-yuga’s nadir, presumably in 2012.

As a secular person even I understand this truth. Its a bit frustrating how often people lack “allegorical intelligence”. Some of my friends are higly intelligent and educated but when it comes to talking about allegory’s and abstractions that relates to our existence as sentient beings I have to use baby talk or just give up at the spot. I used to think that this kind of understanding was a bit useless, it dont exactly get things done in the here and now, but nowadays I think its important for the long term well being of both individuals and societies.
For example allegorically challenged will often debate an issue only from the viewpoint of their perceived ideal outcome of the situation,:-” The cause of criminality is that people break the law, the problem of powerty is that people dont have enuogh money” and so on.
